Indian Culture was founded by Mohit and Pooja with a simple belief — that Indian food in Tasmania should be experienced the way we knew it growing up: full of flavour, warmth, and soul. When we arrived in Hobart, we realised that while people loved Indian cuisine, many had never explored its depth or regional diversity. In 2022, we opened our first restaurant to share the dishes, stories, and traditions that shaped our lives, introducing Tasmania to a more expressive, authentic version of Indian food.

From the beginning, our mission has been to break stereotypes and highlight the richness and balance of Indian cuisine — far beyond the idea that it is simply "spicy." We celebrate flavours from across India, from slow-cooked northern classics to delicate coastal curries, alongside signature dishes crafted with intention and modern refinement. Every plate carries a story, every spice carries a purpose, and every guest is welcomed with the philosophy we were raised with: Atithi Devo Bhava — the guest is God.

Tasmania is now our home, and in Salamanca we present Indian cuisine in a refined fine-dining environment that reflects both our heritage and our pursuit of excellence. We strive to offer what many guests describe as the best Indian restaurant experience in Tasmania — a combination of elevated flavours, thoughtful service, and modern fine dining. This is Indian Culture: the food of our upbringing, elevated with care, and now shared with the city of Hobart that we are deeply in love with and proudly call our home.
